Suchithra is currently based in Portland; Oregon having recently moved from Alabama.

While in Birmingham, as an Associate at Birmingham based Williams Blackstock Architects, a progressive, award-winning architecture and interior design firm, she had been instrumental in the design of the adaptive re-use of the Hardwick Building, a former industrial facility to be repurposed into a modern mixed-use office building in Birmingham’s Design District and was also overseeing the renovation of a 6-story Art Deco building for Auburn University’s off campus facility.  Suchithra received her Master’s in Architecture from the University of Illinois, sat on the Board for ACE Mentor of Alabama, Junior Board for Workshops Empowerment, and was instrumental in reviving the Birmingham Chapter of National Organization of Minority Architects.

She was one of the lead designers along with a small group of volunteers with the Alabama Center for Architecture responsible for a data-driven pilot program called the Compassion Project to explore compassionate, innovative ways to support people who are experiencing homelessness. The initiative was held during the World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama which helped propel the city to officially move forward with a safe sleeping pilot program in 2024.

Suchithra does not shy away from activism, believing that in our role as architects it is also important to inspire a sense of social and environmental stewardship towards our communities and the planet.
